tiny connections · last updated 2 november 2026

the short version

tiny connections keeps very little: the name and colour you choose, and which small worlds you are in. calls are live and are never recorded or stored. a small world remembers who last connected in it, for thirty days, and nothing else about any call.

nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.

what is kept

your name, as you typed it, and the colour of your face. they are shown to people in your small worlds.

your small worlds, whether you have muted them, and who hosts each one.

two addresses for your phone, given by Apple: one for notifications, so the app can tell you when someone opens or waves, and one for calls, so your phone can ring when someone picks up your open.

who you have blocked, so the block keeps working. nobody else in the app can see this, and the person you blocked is not told. the person who runs the app is told when a block is made and can see who blocked whom, so that someone who keeps being blocked can be dealt with.

reports you make: who you reported, the reason, and anything you wrote. these are kept even if an account is later deleted, so that a pattern of behaviour is not lost.

counts: how many times people opened, picked up and connected in each small world each day. these are numbers only, with no names, and are kept after an account is deleted.

what is kept for a day

each open leaves a short record so that the app can work: who opened, in which small world, when, who picked up, and when the call began and ended. if you waved afterwards, a tick on that record stops a second wave. the record is deleted within a day of the open closing or the call ending.

the app does not show these records to anyone.

what is kept for thirty days

that you and someone else connected in a small world, and when you last did. everyone in that small world can see it, under “lately”, to the nearest day.

there is one line for each pair of people, and it is written over the next time they connect. so it never says how often you connect, or for how long, and there is no list of calls.

it is forgotten thirty days after you last connected, or straight away if either of you leaves that small world, is removed from it, or deletes their account.

someone you have blocked, or who has blocked you, is not shown any line that names you.

what is not kept

no email address, phone number, contacts, location or photos.

no video or audio. a call passes through a relay to reach the other person and is not recorded or stored by us.

no waves. a wave is a notification and nothing more.

who helps run the app

Supabase stores the information above.

LiveKit relays the video and audio of a call while it is happening, and tells our server when each of you has connected, so that the minute can be timed. to do that it is given your name and the id of your account, and it keeps its own record that the call took place, how long it lasted and how good the connection was.

Expo and Apple deliver notifications to your phone, and Apple makes it ring.

each of them handles this information only to provide that service.

your choices

change your name or colour at any time on the “you” screen.

turn notifications off for a small world by muting it, or for the whole app in your phone’s settings.

delete your account on the “you” screen. your name, colour, small worlds, blocks and your phone’s two addresses are removed straight away.
